How To Make Your Caller ID Work on Skype

At least, this is what worked for me.

First, log into your account on skype.com. Under “Call Phones,” find where it refers to either setting up caller ID with a mobile phone (which was my case) or “Caller ID Settings.” This will be directly below the list of recently called numbers. It should lead to this page. If you already have a number in there, delete it completely and click the save button. If there’s no number there (this is what happened to me), it will probably say something about putting in your mobile number and some texts will be sent, etc. You really want to click on the link that goes to “pre-selected numbers.” One of these will be your online number, and it will have “(Online Number)” in the listing for that entry. That is, it should be fairly obvious. Select that number and click “Save” and you are done!

This is a pretty sore point with me. I used to believe all this garbage. But it’s time to put a stop to these clubs…somehow. I don’t know how to do it without shredding the First Amendment, but I think it starts with solid education in social sciences, basic biology and science and math in general, and then throw in good reading comprehension and you’ll have a recipe for students who will actively question authorities before accepting them. (In case you missed it, fundies, *that* is what the whole “Question Authority” thing is about…question and then accept or reject authority, not outright rebellion.)

Anyways, go read the article and get properly enraged. If we ever have our own Taliban, this is how it will start.
